Privacy Policy

This policy explains what OneVib collects and how it is used to run a music-led social connection experience.

Information you give us

We collect account and profile information you enter, including email, password, name, birth date, gender, city, country, photos, top songs, song stories, preferences, friend codes, reports, blocks, messages, uploaded chat images, selected GIFs or stickers, and Reality Check answers or results. If you sign in with a phone number, we also process that number. Optional profile details such as height, languages, lifestyle answers and ethnicity are only stored if you add them.

Ethnicity

Ethnicity is sensitive information. Adding it is optional, and we only save it after you give your explicit consent in the profile editor. It is then shown on your profile and can be used in Discover filters. You can remove it at any time, which withdraws your consent. From then on, it is no longer shown or used.

Activity information

We process likes, passes, accepted connections, friendships, chats, playlist activity, live updates, shared songs, notification settings, moderation history, referral activity, reward activity, and basic usage records needed to run the service. Member Live updates are shared with friends and accepted connections, while a new-connection update is limited to the two people involved. We also record when you were last active on OneVib. We use it to show active members first in Discover. Other members cannot see it.

Tournament recordings

When you apply to a Trivia tournament, we store that and when you agreed to the recording of tournament games. A recording can show the questions, your answers and score, your first name and your profile photo, never your last name, age, location or messages. We may publish it on OneVib’s social media channels. If you want a published recording that shows you removed from OneVib’s channels, contact support.

Location and discovery

When you choose a city, OneVib may use Google location services to complete city, region, and country information. Discover shows people closer to you first, based on the location saved with your profile, or your city and country when no location is saved. Your exact location and distance are not shown to other members. Nearby Finder asks separately for device permission during active sessions.

Nearby Finder

Nearby Finder is optional and runs only when you start or accept a short session. It can help you find your own signed-in phone or help two consenting users find each other nearby. If you allow it, OneVib may process device location during the active session to estimate distance and direction. We may also process device status, session invite details, stop/report events, and expiry information needed to run and protect the feature. Sessions end automatically, can be stopped at any time, and do not create permanent location sharing. Reliable ringing or nearby finding may require the OneVib Android app and device permissions.

Technical data

We process device, browser, log and security data, including IP addresses, to operate the site, prevent abuse and fix errors. Visit statistics and error reports from the app are only sent after you allow analytics. We look up the country and the network of an IP address on our own server (databases by DB-IP) for visit statistics and to tell visitors from bots; the address is not sent to anyone for this. Visits by bots are not recorded. IP addresses in visit records are removed after 90 days, and security records are deleted after 90 days to one year, depending on the type. If you arrive through a campaign link (for example one from a Facebook post or ad), we keep the name of that campaign with your new account to see which campaigns bring new members. It is remembered across pages only after you allow analytics, and it is deleted with your account. You can see every device where you are signed in (device type, country, when it signed in and was last active) under Settings > Security and sign one out; this list is deleted with your account.

Cookies and browser storage

OneVib currently relies mainly on essential browser storage for login sessions, language choice, security, notification preferences, chat media helper identifiers, consent choices, and app state. Optional analytics and performance measurement only run after consent where required. You can clear local storage or cookies in your browser, but some app features may stop working until you sign in or configure them again. OneVib does not use advertising or ad cookies.

Why we use information

We use information to create accounts, verify email, reset passwords, show profiles, calculate song compatibility, enable chat, send selected notifications, moderate content, improve OneVib, and meet legal obligations.

Service providers

OneVib uses these providers: Hetzner (hosting and database storage in the EU), Postmark (account emails), Twilio (phone number verification by SMS), Google (sign-in, location suggestions, YouTube search and playback, Google Play billing and app distribution), Spotify (music search and playback), GIPHY (GIF and sticker search), Stripe (web payments and referral payouts) and the push services of your browser or phone (push notifications). Stripe receives your account email to prepare checkout and receipts. Each provider only receives the data needed for its feature.

Payments, referrals, and payouts

If you use subscriptions, referral links, or referral rewards, we may process subscription status, referral eligibility, reward status, payout readiness, Stripe or Google Play identifiers, and payout onboarding status to manage billing, fraud prevention, and reward review. If you win a tournament prize, we store the PayPal address you enter to send it, until you remove it or delete your account.

Notifications

Account emails such as verification and password reset are needed to operate the service. Optional connection, chat, live, product, push, or device notifications can be controlled in account settings or device settings.

Third-party media and integrations

If GIPHY media, YouTube playback, Spotify, Google services, Stripe, Google Play, or similar integrations are active, those providers may receive technical data needed to provide the feature, measure usage, enforce limits, prevent abuse, or comply with their own policies. The YouTube player loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain unless you allow integrations. A Spotify player loads from Spotify when it is shown. Both receive your IP address and device data when their player loads.

Retention and deletion

We keep information while your account is active and as needed for safety, moderation, legal, dispute, security, or support purposes. You can request deletion from account settings or support. Some limited records may remain where required to protect users, process requests, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. Chats with someone you block, unmatch, or remove as a friend disappear for both of you straight away. We keep those messages and shared images for up to 90 days so that reports can be reviewed, and longer only while a related report is still open. After that, they are deleted automatically. If you connect with the same person again later, you start a new, empty chat. If you delete your account, you can ask support to restore it within 30 days. After that, your account and personal data are permanently erased. We only keep limited payment records, without your name or contact details, where accounting law requires it, and an account may be kept longer while a safety report involving it is still open.

Tournament fair-play checks

For prize tournaments we use your verified phone number, account age, devices you use OneVib on (the device ID of the Android app), IP addresses and answer times to detect duplicate accounts, players acting together and automated answers. We use this information only for tournaments and fraud prevention. If you win, the payout account you set up with PayPal or Stripe is handled by that provider; we keep only the payout status and the provider's reference.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your data. Contact support to make a request.
